The Foothills Prospectors was organized and started on the evening of July 15, 2009, by a group of like minded outdoor persons interested in recreational mining. The meeting was called by the original organizer, Benjamin Underwood, and this group of like minded individuals voted to become a club that would petition to become a chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America.
Benjamin opened that first meeting to around fifty persons and after introductions of persons at the meeting the group picked the name of “Foothills Prospectors” for the organizational name. The persons that attended the meeting were provided instructional information on becoming a chapter club of the Gold Prospectors Association of America. Those that were in attendance provided contact information and organized our Club. The interest was outstanding in setting up a chapter of the National GPAA and elections and Club Officers were elected on August 4th, 2009. Application was made to the Gold Prospectors Association of America for Chapter status for the State of Colorado and accepted.
The Foothills Prospectors would like to extend an invitation to you to come and visit us or to contact us on any interest in our group. The Club membership is free and money is raised by donations and fund raising events. The goal of the Club is to promote family recreation and service to our community and State. If we sound like a group you might be interested in becoming involved with please make contact and visit us.
